About Jonah

Aside from studying at Conservatory, I play in a rock band that performs around New York City and Boston. I used to be the music instruction director at my sleep-away camp, won the award for best instructor while teaching middle school jazz band at Hunter College High School, and currently teach private lessons to young students for piano and guitar.
I'm able to teach violin, piano, and guitar, as well as all levels of music theory.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm Jonah! I am incredibly passionate about music, in both my playing and my teaching! Part of what makes me a strong instructor, in my opinion, is due to the sheer quantity of instruction I've had; not only did I learn a lot about the subject, but I've had enough positive and negative experiences with different teachers that I know what works and what doesn't.

The most important thing about me as an instructor is my ability to adapt to your learning style; if a particular method isn't working out, I have no problem switching up how we approach internalizing whatever concept I'm trying to teach.

I'm very comfortable teaching all ages and musical styles, but my particular strength are music theory (from introductory to college level), beginner piano, and more advanced improvised music, like jazz and rock.
