About Maya
I am a piano tutor with 6 years of experience and a BM in Sacred Music (Piano/Organ), and I love blending technical training with historical piano styles. Ragtime, stride, and early jazz inspire much of my teaching. These genres help students learn rhythm, coordination, and expressive timing. I enjoy working with school-aged beginners who are curious and excited. Adults also enjoy learning these styles because they are lively and full of character. My lessons balance structure with creativity. I use real musical examples to show how patterns work. I guide students patiently through each step. My goal is to help them grow with confidence and enjoyment. I keep the environment positive and encouraging. Together, we will explore the rich tradition of early American piano. I look forward to supporting your musical journey.

I help students create original piano music through structured and creative lessons. Songwriting, composing melodies, and harmonies are central to my teaching. Students also learn to develop intros, outros, and recurring musical themes. My method balances technique, organisation, and imaginative expression. I work with The Therapy Seeker and The Jazz Pianist to meet individual creative goals. Lessons focus on turning small ideas into complete, expressive compositions. I provide clear, step-by-step guidance and constructive feedback. Students explore chord progressions, motif development, and thematic cohesion. I encourage both improvisation and structured composition exercises. Lessons build confidence in translating ideas into music. Each student develops their own creative voice. Together, we’ll bring your musical ideas to life. You’ll leave each lesson empowered to compose your musical legacy.
