About Koen
I am Koen, a native Dutch speaker, experienced teacher, and PhD-level psychologist who loves helping people grow. My Dutch lessons are warm, practical, and tailored to your situation and pace. So reach out if you're a beginner, reconnecting with your roots, or working in a caregiving or professional setting.
I combine deep knowledge of language, psychology, and education to help you feel at ease while learning. We’ll focus on real-life conversation, simple grammar, and the topics that matter to you. I also offer specialised lessons for caregivers or those looking to live or work in Dutch speaking environments.
Oh, and if you ever want to mix it up with a yoga break or cultural deep dive, I’m all in.

So... What are my Dutch lessons like?
Whether online or in person, my lessons are designed to get you speaking confidently, clearly, and naturally. We focus on real-life Dutch that you can use right away, from everyday conversations to work or caregiving settings.
You'll get conversational fluency with natural pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary made simple and relevant, interactive, and flexible formats – we can even practice while walking if that helps you learn better!
Each session is tailored to your pace, your goals, and your preferred way of learning. Sessions are typically 45 minutes, but I offer flexible lengths depending on your schedule and energy.

Koen is a fantastic, patient teacher, and has a friendly, fun way of teaching and works to find a time that is best for you.
I am learning Dutch because my father, who is from the Netherlands has Alzheimer's and is losing his English, and Koen has been so compassionate and is focusing my lessons around specific things that can help me understand what dad wants or needs.
