About Jayanthi

My name is Jayanthi. I was born and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Tamil is not just a language I teach. It is the language I think in, dream in, and carry with me every day.

I have been teaching Tamil for over 10 years. What started as a passion for sharing my language with children in my community grew into something I now do for Tamil families across Canada who want to make sure their children do not lose their connection to where they come from.

I know what it feels like to watch a child light up the first time they read a full Tamil sentence on their own. Or the first time they call their grandparents and hold a real conversation in Tamil. Those moments are exactly why I do this.

My approach is warm, patient, and structured. I meet every student where they are, without judgment, without rushing. Tamil has one of the oldest literary traditions in the world and I teach it with the pride and care that deserves.

I currently teach more than 10 students online across Canada. Every single one of them gets my full attention, a lesson plan built specifically for them, and a teacher who is genuinely invested in their progress.

About the lesson

I teach Tamil the way it was meant to be learned, as a living, breathing language, not just a subject to memorize.

I am originally from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the heart of Tamil culture and language. Tamil is my mother tongue. I grew up speaking it, reading classical Tamil literature, and understanding the depth and beauty this language carries. That is not something you can get from a textbook. That is something I bring into every single lesson.

Here is what a typical lesson looks like.
I start by understanding where the student is. A child born in Canada who has never formally studied Tamil needs a completely different approach than a teenager who speaks Tamil at home but cannot read or write it. I tailor every session to exactly where your child is and exactly where you want them to go.

I teach Tamil reading, Tamil writing, and Tamil speaking, covering everything from the basics of the alphabet all the way through to fluent conversation, grammar, and comprehension. Whether your child is a complete beginner or needs to strengthen what they already know, I have the experience and the patience to get them there.

I currently teach more than 10 students across Canada online. Many of them are children of Tamil families who want their kids to stay connected to their language, their culture, and their roots. I understand exactly why that matters, because it matters to me too.
