About Tess
As a dedicated math tutor with more than seven years of experience, I specialize in supporting IB and A-Level students. I hold a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, which equips me with both deep subject knowledge and practical insight. My approach emphasizes conceptual clarity, helping students to understand the reasoning behind each topic. I also encourage flexible problem-solving by introducing different methods for tackling questions. Regular past paper practice forms an important part of my lessons, as it strengthens exam skills and boosts confidence. I have particular expertise in Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics, areas where many students seek extra support. My teaching style is patient and adaptable, designed to fit individual learning preferences. I enjoy helping students recognize their progress, even when it comes in small steps. I believe that maths should feel engaging, meaningful, and fun. My methodology combines structured learning in Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics with creative explorations in logic puzzles and recreational maths. Game theory and real-world examples are also part of my sessions, showing the value of maths in everyday life. Lessons are nurturing and personalized, tailored to each student’s pace and curiosity. I encourage playful exploration, where every question is important. Parents are supported with guidance to foster progress outside of lessons. I bring in the gamer spirit, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. Mistakes are embraced as natural parts of learning. My aim is to build confidence alongside skills. Curiosity is celebrated in every lesson. Students are guided to think independently and enjoy discovering new ideas. Together, we make maths a subject that is both rewarding and enjoyable. The goal is to support learners in excelling while appreciating the creative side of mathematics.
