About Christina
I have a background working with students of all ages and with all goals. My career started teaching toddlers and preschoolers at a large English kindergarten in Seoul. I worked at a Canadian offshore international school (G1-12) for 3 years. I prepared lower level students for full-immersion into the full Canadian curriculum classes. I taught TOEFL prep to higher level students. I focused on overall English improvement as well as targeted weaknesses for all levels and ages in between.
I taught adults from college aged to the retired for 4 years. The ratio of talk time in my classes of teacher to student was 20% to 80%. This is very important as the focus is always on student improvement. The 20% of my talk time involved asking questions, pushing for more, giving feedback, and introducing new/alternative vocabulary and expressions.

I'm Christina. Teaching ESL is my career. I have 13 years experience in classroom and 1-on-1 instruction online and offline of all ages. I lived in Seoul, Korea for all 13 years. I have a degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in English Technical Communication.
I specialize in helping students achieve their speaking goals. I strive to take the fear out of speaking. Students ask me, "How do I improve my speaking and fast?" The answer: Practice, practice, practice. And in my experience, it isn't fast. Persistence is key. It's just like exercising. If you haven't run in 3 years and want to run a marathon next month, it is an unrealistic goal.
I have many tools and strategies to empower one's speaking skills with vocabulary acquisition, re-programming bad grammar habits, and introducing new sentence patterns and expressions. Advanced students require exposure to idioms and vocabulary expansion to stay on top of their communication skills.
While I specialize in speaking, I can assist with any other area in English. I also provide presentation, speech, and interview help.
