About Willy

Hi I am Liam (Willy), philosopher and lateral thinker. I have been enthusiastic about the English language for over 10 years. It started with language trips to England, singing and translating music lyrics and even before I graduated from high school I saw films in their original language and played computer games exclusively in English. During my studies in computer science I gave German courses for Chinese students for years and through my work in the international student club I had experience with all cultures of the world. In addition, I gave friends English tuition for preparing for high school. I recently spent half a year in Jakarta in a shared flat with 5 cultures, in which we only spoke English and Indonesian. Back in Germany, I still have to be treated for a few months because of a disease before I am fully recovered. I regularly read books in English, watch films, lectures and series in English, animes with English subtitles, use my computer and my smartphone almost only with English programs and even my keyboard has a UK layout (QWERTY).

About the lesson

My offer is aimed at language beginners (German > English) and advanced learners who want to deepen their language skills, e.g. want to become more fluent in speaking or want to make their language use more varied. If you are in school, high school or in University and struggling with English, try me! I don't specialize in exam preparation, but my methods can make learning new words / vocabulary a lot easier for you. We can train grammar, too, but in the foreground there's the intuitive learning where you don't need to think about grammar anymore, knowing intuitively what's right and what's not.

Meet with me via Skype and talk to me in English. I will point out mistakes and opportunities for improvement in the conversation. The focus here is on overcoming the fear of speaking and thinking in English. I train you to not use from-German-to-English translation in your head anymore.

You may use my methods on your own after conversation and share it with your friends. These are applicable anytime and for every language. My methods are based on the Birkenbihl Method for language learning.
