About Pamela

I am a retired private school teacher of 18 years! I taught every grade from K-12 in those 18 years ! My favorite years were teaching first grade! I loved every minute of it! My class was taught phonics through songs and through playing games together with phonics sounds ! I am looking into tutoring students online through messenger or actually in person in my home ! We would wear masks and use sanitizer and observe All the social distancing and CDC rules! My students learn quickly and enjoy their lessons! I was also selected as Teacher of the Year while teaching first grade! I love to help others learn new things and love to see their faces when they do learn them!

About the lesson

I am a teacher who is happy teaching Reading, Phonics and Spelling to first-third graders! I employ songs and phonics games and use repetition and review constantly! I believe hard work deserves a reward so I have a small treat to give the student at the end of our lesson together. I always have the student ask questions if he or she needs to do so. I relate my teaching to their interest and to their hobbies. Example we might play a game with a phonics ferris wheel with all the phonics sounds as seats. You give out tickets and they surrender their ticket to ride so you let them spin the wheel and whatever sound it lands on is the one they have to pronounce and give me a word with that sound! The word then will be spelled and pronounced again using it in a sentence. My students love this game! Sometimes I would have some popcorn for them too! I guess you could say I am an all heart hands on teacher who loves to teach!

Details

I have a cancellation fee of 25.00 and that is non-negotiable. I put a great deal of my time and effort into each tutoring session so I need to be able to count on the student to show up for their lesson! I do understand sickness or an unforeseen event and in those cases I will deduct the 25 dollars off the payment of the next lesson. This deduction will only happen if you CALL me and cancel before the day of the lesson you will be missing.
