About Dany

As time goes by, I gain experience in dance, or "flight hours," as I like to call them. Sometimes I stop and think, "Let's see, how does this person, that person, or the other one, dance?" And it's impossible not to wonder how I dance. Can you really see your mood or emotions, who you are, and even your personality from the outside? The answer is YES.

I'm sorry to disappoint you if you were trying to hide something, but if you don't ask yourself this question, you'll end up dancing "just like everyone else." If you like that, perfect. You're probably not wrong; after all, it's just copying a step or a choreography for show. It's like the lyrics of a song: depending on who sings them, they may or may not resonate with you.

It's incredible how it looks from the outside. You see people who love art, people who are meticulous, creative, fun, structured, pretty-faced, swaggering, tough, insecure people, people who like to show off, those who dance for others, for themselves, or those who dance to other rhythms.

This becomes clear as you get to know tango. Just being on the dance floor gives you that impression, but it also gives you your own style, which will be reflected in everything from a cut eight to any other step that meets the typical requirements. If you add your own touch, you're adding even more of your own trademark, your dedication, your own name.

You give the step its value or importance, whatever it may be. You could apply that value consciously if you know yourself. If you don't know yourself, you still apply it, but without realizing it because you're copying, and that shows.

The partners you dance with often unconsciously point out these differences: you just have to know whom to listen to.

You can learn the style just by watching the dance floor, but you wouldn't know how to mentally develop it if you didn't have the necessary technique of the steps ingrained in you, since you wouldn't have a logical point of comparison. You might only know if you like what you see or not, and act accordingly.

This only becomes clear when you know the steps, the technique, the music, and your own personality. With the combination of these four variables, you'll already have a dance style to apply according to your mood that day (that "mood" part is for another day). And it works well when these conditions align with those of your partner.
