About Lucy

I am currently in Year 12 studying English Literature, Philosophy and French.
I am happy to tutor people of all ages; I have experience tutoring children from ages 10-16 in Maths and English, one-on-one and in small groups before at both Keystage Level 2 (preparing children for their 12+ Entrance Exams) and at GCSE.

In my recent ACT test I scored a 36/36 in the English and a 33/36 in the Reading, so I can help anyone preparing for these sections as I took a week-long UES course in ACT exam technique and have access to numerous past papers and mark schemes.

I have a passion for teaching English Language and writing - I can do this with reference to exam technique in order to ensure students achieve the highest grades. I can be an affordable source of support to anyone who needs support with learning English or keeping up with lessons at school.

About the lesson

My teaching method is entirely based around the student and their current achievement level. My lesson structure usually consists of an introduction to the topic or chapter, followed by a discussion where I will answer any questions. Afterwards, I will set the student a short piece of work to complete during the tutoring session which I will then mark and give feedback on to eliminate confusion before setting homework.

In my lessons I make use of Powerpoint, Quizlet, Seneca and other useful learning platforms for GCSE, A Level, language learning and beyond.
