About Jace
I’m an A Level English student with above average grades for my school. I also hold an enhanced DBS. I do a lot of independent study and research and particularly enjoy adding context points around literature which makes it much easier to understand the texts through links to real life and history. Language features are also a particular interest of mine and I’ve written papers on phonology and structure of non literature texts to better understand their placement and use in different industries. For example, I did a study on my own idiosyncratic language and the way I talk due to the way I grew up-this not only includes the actual words but also the effect of accents and specific regional proverbs. This is generally A level content now however I also gained two level 9 grades in both language and literature so I have a good rounded idea of the English Curriculum in the UK.

Lessons would be more discussion based, particularly working on developing ideas and getting the depth in content that you need. Between half an hour and two hours of lessons for students between aged 12 and 16, mainly for GCSE prep and AS level content. I’ve been tutoring students this age in extra English lessons for 2 years so I have some experience. Personally I’ve found an active teaching approach to be more effective where we sit, discuss and collaborate to add to the knowledge students already have.
