About Elina

About me! Hi! My name is Elina, and I am from the United Kingdom. I am pursuing a degree in Geography and Oceanography at Bangor University, driven by a strong interest in understanding the planet's landscapes, climates, and oceans. While I do not have formal paid teaching experience, I have successfully tutored and mentored students across various subjects. I have also been part of the scouting community for many years and have started to weekly volunteer as a DBS checked scout leader with all appropriate training. My goal is to foster confidence and deepen understanding, particularly during the critical stages from Key Stage 3 (KS3) to A-level. I earned an A* in GCSE Geography and have achieved a grade B in A-level, equipping me with insights into the learning process. In terms of English Literature, I achieved an A* in GCSE and I have achieved a grade B at A-level. Additionally, my involvement and high achievements in musical theatre, singing and drama have honed my communication skills and enabled me to develop an approachable teaching style.

About the lesson

Regarding my teaching style, my methods of tutoring include: Tailored Learning: - if a student requires more visual learning or auditory learning, I will adapt my lessons/sessions to support the student - I will tailor each session to the student's pace, needs and preferred learning styles Engaging Methods: - I have numerous resources at hand including PowerPoints I have made that help break down complex issues step by step in a visual learning sense with associated tasks Interactive sessions; active recall and spaced repetitions: -To keep sessions interesting and help students retain information for the long-term simultaneously boosting memory Progress tracking: - regular check-ins and mini-assessments to monitor improvement and identify where extra support is needed to ensure confidence and success Exam-focused Practice: -past papers, mark schemes, technique drills and exam questions yet to come up

I will only be tutoring OCR geography at GCSE and A-level degree
