About Callum

I know that choosing the right tutor is important, so I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence.

I achieved an A in A-Level Law and am now a first-class Law and Politics student at the University of Manchester. Alongside my degree, I have over two years of tutoring experience, working with students of different abilities and helping them develop both their subject knowledge and exam technique.

I take tutoring seriously and prepare each lesson individually rather than using the same materials for every student. Lessons are adapted to the student’s exam board, current ability, areas for improvement and personal goals. I also keep up to date with specifications, assessment objectives and exam requirements to ensure that what we cover is directly relevant.

Most importantly, I want students to enjoy studying Law. It can initially feel overwhelming because of the number of cases, legal principles and exam structures involved, but with the right approach it becomes much more manageable. Whether a student is struggling with the basics or aiming for an A/A*, I will work with them patiently and consistently towards their goals.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Callum! I’m a first-class Law and Politics student at the University of Manchester, and I achieved an A in A-Level Law myself. I’ve now been tutoring for over two years, helping A-Level students improve their legal knowledge, exam technique and confidence.

My approach to tutoring is very student-focused. I don’t believe in simply talking through a PowerPoint for an hour. My lessons are interactive and usually combine teaching, questioning, case-law recall, mini activities and exam practice. I break difficult legal concepts down into straightforward steps and regularly test understanding throughout the lesson so that we can identify and work on weaker areas.

A major part of my teaching focuses on exam technique. Knowing the law is only half the challenge at A-Level, so I teach students how to apply cases effectively, structure problem questions and essays, develop evaluation, and understand exactly what examiners are looking for. I also use past-paper questions and provide detailed feedback so students know specifically how they can improve.

Lessons are typically one hour long and are individually planned around the student. This means we can work through the course systematically, focus on a particular topic they are struggling with, prepare for an upcoming assessment, or concentrate on revision and exam practice.

I have over two years of tutoring experience and teach A-Level Law across AQA, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas. Having recently completed A-Level Law myself and now studying Law and Politics at university, I understand both the content students need to know and the jump required to reach the higher grade boundaries.

My lessons are primarily aimed at A-Level Law students aged 16–18, from students who are finding the subject difficult and want to build their confidence through to those already achieving strong grades who want to push towards an A or A*.
