About Theodor

I completed my A-levels in 2026, achieving A*s in Politics, History and Economics, alongside an A in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Politics was probably a subject I loved at A-level, particularly US Politics and Political Ideas, where I was top of my cohort. I've always enjoyed discussing political issues, examining different arguments and understanding why people and institutions make the decisions they do.

Having recently completed the AQA Politics course, I'm familiar with the demands of the exams and the importance of having a strong bank of examples that can be adapted to different questions. I particularly enjoyed the challenge of developing arguments and learning how to use evidence effectively rather than simply memorising content.

I've also received tutoring myself, so I know how much difference a good tutor can make. Sometimes having someone explain something differently, challenge your thinking or help you recognise where you're going wrong is what makes a topic finally click.

I'm currently taking a gap year before university and would like to use my experience and enthusiasm for Politics to help other students achieve the grades they're capable of.

About the lesson

I achieved an A* in A-level Politics in 2026, alongside A*s in History and Economics and an A in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

My approach focuses on helping students build a strong knowledge of political examples and, more importantly, the confidence to use them effectively in exams. From my own experience, one of the biggest difficulties in Politics is not necessarily understanding the content, but remembering relevant examples, recognising when to use them and applying them convincingly to different questions.

I aim to get students actively thinking rather than simply talking them through the content. Lessons involve discussion, questioning and working through examples to help students develop their own arguments and become more confident in applying what they know.

A particular focus is essay technique. Having a good range of examples is only useful if you can deploy them effectively within a clear, analytical argument. I work with students on breaking down questions, selecting the strongest evidence, developing evaluation and structuring longer answers. Past papers and mark schemes are useful for identifying where marks are lost and gradually improving the quality and consistency of essays.

I recently completed the AQA A-level Politics specification, so I'm particularly familiar with its content, assessment requirements and exam technique, although I can also support students following other exam boards.

Lessons are tailored to each student's needs and are suitable for A-level Politics students of all abilities, whether they need help building their knowledge, improving their essay writing or pushing towards an A*. Lesson lengths are flexible depending on the student's needs.
