As a dedicated Liberal Arts student in college, I bring a strong academic foundation and well-rounded perspective to my work as a tutor. My studies have strengthened my ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and analyze language and numerical concepts with depth. I am highly knowledgeable in English grammar and mathematics, and I approach each tutoring session with professionalism, preparation, and genuine care for my students’ success.

About the lesson

My Teaching Method and Techniques

My approach as a tutor is student-centered, supportive, and structured. I focus on building both understanding and confidence. I believe that every student can succeed with the right guidance, pace, and encouragement.

For English grammar, I prioritize clarity and practice. I break down rules into simple, digestible parts and use real-life examples to make concepts relatable. I guide students through sentence construction, editing exercises, and reading comprehension to help them recognize patterns and apply grammar naturally in their writing and speech.

For math, I emphasize strong foundational skills and step-by-step problem solving. I teach students not just how to get the answer, but why the answer makes sense. Visual aids, guided examples, and repetition with variation are key techniques I use to reinforce learning and reduce math anxiety.

My techniques include:

Diagnosing learning gaps and tailoring lessons accordingly

Using clear explanations and simplified language

Guided practice followed by independent work

Positive reinforcement and patience

Encouraging questions and open communication

Real-world examples to connect concepts to daily life

Typical Lesson Plan:

A standard lesson is structured yet flexible, adjusting to the student’s needs.

Warm-Up / Review (5–10 minutes)
Quick recap of previous material or a short exercise to assess retention.

Introduction of New Concept (10–15 minutes)
Explanation of the topic using examples and visual or written breakdowns.

Guided Practice (15–20 minutes)
We work through problems or exercises together, step-by-step.

Independent Practice (15–20 minutes)
Students try on their own while I provide support and corrections as needed.

Reflection & Feedback (5–10 minutes)
Discuss what was learned, address confusion, and highlight progress.

What sets me apart: I make it a priority to ensure students feel safe asking questions and expressing confusion. I am patient, encouraging, and adaptable, adjusting my teaching style to fit each student’s learning pace and personality. I focus on building long-term understanding rather than short-term memorization, helping students develop skills they can carry into future classes and real-life situations.
