About Therese May
Hi! I’m Therese, a Licensed Professional Teacher and an English major from the Philippines with eight years of teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English, 18 graduate units in English Education, and TESOL and TEFL certifications.
I’ve been teaching English to junior high school students, helping them develop their grammar, reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary, and communication skills. Over the years, I’ve learned that students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged to participate.
I enjoy teaching because I find it rewarding to see students become more confident in expressing themselves and using English. I’m excited to share my experience with learners of different ages and help them achieve their own English learning goals.

My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and student-centered. I adjust my lessons based on each student’s English level, needs, and goals.
A typical lesson may begin with a short warm-up or conversation, followed by the main lesson and guided practice. Depending on the student’s goals, we may focus on speaking, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, pronunciation, or everyday communication. I use clear explanations, practical examples, and activities to help students understand and apply what they learn.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, participate, and practice without being afraid of making mistakes. I also provide helpful corrections and adjust the pace when needed. My goal is to make every lesson comfortable, engaging, and useful while helping students become more confident in using English.
