About Angelle Joy

Hello! I'm a dedicated Mathematics educator with over six years of teaching and tutoring experience, helping students develop strong mathematical understanding and confidence. I have worked with primary and secondary students through one-on-one, small group, and classroom instruction, teaching both the Singapore and US mathematics curricula.

I currently work as a Singapore Math Trainer, where I help students master problem-solving strategies, algebra, and other mathematical concepts using a structured and conceptual approach. I also tutor international students online, providing personalized lessons that are tailored to each learner's needs and learning pace. Previously, I taught Junior High School Mathematics, where I designed lesson plans, conducted assessments, and provided remediation and enrichment to support student success.

My goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as confident problem-solvers. Whether your child needs help strengthening foundational skills, preparing for exams, or tackling more advanced topics, I am committed to providing patient, engaging, and effective instruction that helps them achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

I believe that every student can succeed in mathematics with the right guidance, encouragement, and learning strategies. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong understanding of concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I break down complex topics into manageable steps and use guided practice to help students gain confidence and become independent problem-solvers.

I adapt my lessons to each student's learning style, pace, and academic needs. I use a combination of:

- Step-by-step instruction with clear explanations
- Singapore Math strategies, including model drawing and visual representations
- Problem-solving techniques that develop logical and critical thinking
- Guided practice followed by independent exercises
- Regular review and formative assessments to reinforce previously learned concepts
- Positive encouragement to help students build confidence in mathematics

Having experience teaching both the US and Singapore curricula allows me to adjust my instruction to meet different educational standards and expectations.

A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous concepts to strengthen retention. I then introduce the new topic using simple explanations and examples. Students and I work through guided practice together before they solve problems independently. Throughout the lesson, I provide immediate feedback, address misconceptions, and end with a brief summary and additional practice or homework when appropriate.

What sets me apart is my experience teaching students from different educational backgrounds, including Singapore and US curricula, as well as my classroom teaching experience. As a Singapore Math trainer and former Junior High School Mathematics teacher, I understand how to develop both conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping students gain confidence while improving their mathematical abilities.

My lessons are suitable for:
- Primary/Elementary students (Grades 1–6)
- Middle School/Junior High students (Grades 7–10)
- Students following the Singapore, US, or similar international mathematics curricula
- Students who need help with foundational skills, problem-solving, algebra, fractions, geometry, and exam preparation
- Learners who need remediation, enrichment, or advanced mathematical challenges
