About Biljana
I am one of Australia’s most accomplished chess players, with decades of international playing experience and leadership in the game. A Woman International Master (WIM), I have represented both Yugoslavia and Australia at the highest levels, holding the Australian record for the most Women’s Chess Olympiad appearances with 12. I earned my WIM title in 1990 and have competed in events such as the Chess Olympiad, World Mind Sports Games, and Women’s Zonal Championships.
Alongside my playing career, I served as Vice President of the FIDE Women’s Commission, contributing to initiatives aimed at growing participation and strengthening development pathways in chess.
I am passionate about coaching and committed to helping players reach their full potential, using my international experience to teach strategy, improve decision-making, and build a strong mindset. My approach is supportive and structured, focusing on confidence, clear goals, and helping players become more independent and thoughtful thinkers at the board.
