About Shelby
Salve! I am the owner of my own business, Nénu Lossë (Yes, that is elvish!). I teach yoga, offer holistic services, and help aspiring artists and writers reach the next level. I have taught all levels from kindergarten to college composition classes. I am a certified teacher and have a Master's Degree in English literature with a specialization in rhetoric and composition (it is a mouthful!).
I have been teaching and tutoring since 2014! (My how the years fly by!)
My love of literature come from Tolkien (Hobbit, Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings) and I love working with writers for pleasure, business, or educational purposes! I am here to serve you and help you take that piece your writing from draft to polished work!

Writing is not something you are either born "good" or "bad" at.
It is a skill. It is a set of tools. If you have a hammer, it might be easy to hang a picture, but just a hammer won't cut a board in half. Writing is the same way, you may have the tools to write a great narrative, but just narration won't create a killer essay. But, anyone can learn to write like academic, business professional, or fiction writer. It's just a matter of learning the right tools and having the right editor/mentor on your side (that's me!).
My teaching methodology combines personal development and composition. My goal is not to teach you WHAT to think, but HOW to think using writing. Writing is an amazing tool for accessing your subconscious and for unpacking beliefs, ideas, and feelings that you aren't even aware are there. It helps us understand that we are not our mind. Through different writing tactics you can begin to understand yourself and your discourse community (we'll talk about that in depth!) better so that you have a CHOICE over what you think, feel, and believe. Through writing, you can identify a behavior, keep it or rewrite it.
That's the first layer of my method. From there, once you have identified a belief, you can then use this prewriting to create amazing works in fiction and for school. I can help you take any journal, prewriting, or notes and transcribe them into a polished essay or work that has flow, emotional resonance, and is massively persuasive.
I can't wait to help you take your idea from your mind and turn it into an epic work!
