About Kalina
Hello, my name is Kalina and I'm a junior in high school that loves art. I focus on various types of genres like architecture, sculpture, visual arts, and even literature. I am a self-taught artist that has utilized the Internet as the base of my learning. Such resources like Proko and virtual art books that focus on ateliers and old masters (Jean-Léon Gérôme, Leyendecker, Caravaggio, Norman Rockwell, etc.) and visited many museums to analyze in-person. On my free time I like to educate myself on new techniques and styles on art and watch art-related media.

I am a student myself (junior in high school) so I know just how rigorous and at times boring school can be. I want to introduce a new way of learning for all that involves being very interactive and social. Typically I'd start off my lessons with a question asking about what types of art people are interested in, do a master study of an artist, talk about the artist's legacy, move on to critiquing, and finally sum everything we've learned. I am an art lover, so teaching others about the beauty of art really feels like I'm opening a new world of perspective on others and making a change to the art world. I also want to encourage many people around my age and younger, to branch out and try to participate in contests as not only does it allow for publicity, but also creates a career path. This class is not open to just adolescents but also to adults who do art as a hobby. I am very locally involved in terms of contests in my state but also focus on other contests both international and statewide!
