About Alex

Hi, I am a recent Classics graduate from the University of Edinburgh looking to help younger people develop an interest in learning. I have tutored family friends and relatives in the past and have found that the best way for them to learn is to enjoy it. With this in mind, I like to tailor tutoring sessions to the individual and link the subject to their own interests. I would usually set up this link at the beginning of the session and then develop the lesson accordingly, eventually reaching the learning goal outlined at the beginning. I am a calm, fun presence and I believe I am able to get the best out of my students. I specialise in Classics (Ancient History, Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation), but am also able to teach French, English and Maths to GCSE level. I love the subjects I teach and hope I can pass this down to my students. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. Alex is very passionate about Classics. He is equally skilled in Latin and Greek and also knows about Classical History too. He has explained the historical relevance of many classical text such as Tacitus’ Annals and the Aeneid to me. He is also very patient and kind and even tempered which I think is important for tutoring.
