For math, teachers want parents to emphasize understanding concepts, practice regularly, and support a growth mindset. In reading, parents should focus on reading frequently, discussing texts, and developing both fluency and comprehension. Both subjects benefit from an encouraging and patient home environment, where effort and progress are celebrated over simply achieving the "right" answer or finishing a book.
