About Lyra
I’m an economics tutor with over 3 years of experience and a Master’s in Applied and Theoretical Economics. My approach is interdisciplinary and investigative, blending economic theory with real-world case analysis. I specialise in areas like financial forensics, economic crime analysis, and the economics of law enforcement and regulation. I enjoy guiding students through topics like money laundering investigations, fraud detection, and economic implications of criminal behaviour. I often use simulated case files, data interpretation exercises, and ethical decision-making frameworks to deepen learning. My sessions combine practical tools with theoretical models, helping students see how economics can explain behaviour and shape legal policy. I also teach principles of investigative accounting, shadow economy analysis, and economic reasoning behind justice system costs. Students aiming for careers in forensic auditing, government policy, or law enforcement often find my sessions particularly valuable. I believe in teaching economics not just as numbers and graphs but as a tool to uncover patterns, address corruption, and promote fairness. I support learners in connecting economic theory with their passions, whether it's protecting nature or improving healthcare systems. I work especially well with those who see economics as a tool to solve real problems—like Wildlife Photographers or Medical Technologists looking to understand the bigger picture. I help them develop the skills to think critically and act responsibly. My goal is to build confidence and curiosity in every session. Together, we explore how economics can lead to a healthier, fairer world.
