About Juan

I am an Astrophysicist with a Master's degree from Leiden University (The Netherlands) in Astronomy and Cosmology. I've taught Math, Astronomy and Physics in various occasions and I've been a physics tutor in my current University where I am studying galaxy evolution as part of my Ph.D.
Besides my academic work, I have a Youtube channel where I explain astrophysics to the general public.

About the lesson

I like to explain concepts using practical examples (often about astronomy as it's my profession and those examples tend to be more engaging). I have some experience with board explanations and PowerPoint presentations as well. I believe that building a good physical intuition is fundamental in understanding problems in Math and Physics so I always try to get my students to develop that intuition and actually enjoy solving problems.

The structure of my lessons depend on the type of students, as some perform better with hands-on explanations and others prefer direct explanations and individual work. I am happy to be flexible with the type of teaching that the students prefer.

Perfect! Juan is an amazing tutor and person. He quickly focused on the gaps in my sons' math skills and they went up a grade or two immediately. He is organised as well as flexible and easily switched to online during coronavirus lockdown. The boys had a great time working with him.
