About William
A Graduate of Brown University, I taught AP English and a host of other English classes for the last 35 years at a private independent day school on Yale's doorstep (our campus was two miles north of New Haven). I also taught at the college level in Hong Kong and at the University of Missouri (main branch) before returning east.

I am a firm believer in the truism that good writing begins in the formation of a firm, defensible critical opinion on the topic at hand--before the writing begins! With writing questions generated from reading, I work with students to develop these strong viewpoints that become maps to use, to chart their way through their writing process. I also feature creative writing as a means to arrive at a sharper, more realistic appraisal of a novel's major characters, fomenting this opinionated growth by this secondary means.
