About Ryan

I am a dedicated and experienced guitar instructor with a Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar from NYU. My lessons combine professional training, real-world experience, and a deep passion for teaching. As a musician, I understand the challenges students face at different levels, whether it's mastering technique, building confidence in improvisation, or deepening their understanding of music. My goal is to make every student feel supported and motivated while providing clear, structured lessons that bring real progress. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and professional guitar tutor who truly cares about your growth, I would love to help you on your musical journey!

About the lesson

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I focus on building a strong foundation in technique, ear training, and musicality while making sure each lesson fits the student’s goals. Whether you want to improve your jazz improvisation, expand your chord vocabulary, or simply play your favorite songs with confidence, I create a structured yet flexible learning experience. My approach emphasizes learning by ear, understanding harmony, and developing a personal sound on the guitar.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up & Technique – Picking exercises, chord studies, and finger independence drills
Repertoire & Application – Learning songs, analyzing harmony, and applying new concepts in real music
Improvisation & Creativity – Exploring jazz phrasing, melodic development, and playing over chord changes
Personal Goals & Progress – Lessons are designed to match each student’s interests, whether it’s jazz, contemporary styles, or songwriting

NYU Jazz Guitar Master’s Degree – A strong academic background combined with real-world experience
Active NYC Musician – Insights from performing with musicians in NYC
Clear and Practical Teaching Style – Breaking down complex concepts into simple, actionable steps
Focus on Musical Expression – Helping students develop their own sound and artistic voice

All Levels Welcome – Whether you’re just starting or already experienced, we’ll build from where you are
Aspiring Jazz Guitarists – Learn improvisation, comping, and jazz vocabulary from a trained professional
Musicians Exploring Jazz – Rock, blues, or classical players who want to expand their skills
