About Svitlana
My interpersonal communication talents first developed while obtaining my master's degree in Ukrainian philology. This formal training gave me strong foundations across reading, writing, speech and grammar from which I have built specialised skills for simplifying and clarifying complex linguistic concepts. These skills proved invaluable over the past two decades editing Ukrainian literature and media, through which I further refined best practices for breaking down barriers to fluency. My editing background strengthens my capabilities for assessing each student's abilities and charting an optimal tutoring plan. I believe learning a language should feel enlightening, not intimidating. With an encouraging teaching outlook centred on patience and curiosity, I create judgement-free environments where students feel empowered to use the language. With a master's degree and over 20 years' experience in Ukrainian journalism and editing, I take a customised approach to tutoring the Ukrainian language online. My lessons incorporate a conversational focus to build practical language skills while also covering grammar, reading, and writing fundamentals. Lessons typically run 60 minutes which allows time to review homework, introduce new concepts with multimedia examples, practice through conversational roleplay activities, and set goals for our next session together. With patience and an encouraging approach, I design our lesson plans to meet precisely your language goals and current abilities. My students span various ages and proficiency levels, from beginners seeking intro vocabulary and phrases all the way to advanced students aiming to refine their sentence structures.
