About Léon

Hello and welcome! I'm delighted to introduce myself as your dedicated instructor for courses in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Immunology. With a strong foundation in these fields and a fervour for teaching, I am thrilled to embark on this educational journey with you.

My academic journey has led me to a graduate student position within the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, where I am pursuing a Master's degree in Immunology.
My experiences as a voluntary Teaching Assistant during my undergraduate years, guiding students through courses spanning Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Clinical Immunology, have honed these essential attributes. They have also instilled in me the significance of maintaining impeccable organizational, verbal, and written communication skills—vital attributes for success in this field. My experiences as a mentor and educator have deepened my commitment to guiding aspiring students towards academic excellence and instilled in me the unique sense of satisfaction that comes from being part of their journey.

About the lesson

I believe in building a strong foundation of concepts. I break down intricate topics into comprehensible units, ensuring that students grasp the fundamental principles before diving into more advanced content. Visual learning is essential in the sciences. I utilize diagrams, illustrations, and animations to simplify complex processes. This visual approach helps students visualize and understand cellular and microbial functions, making the learning experience more intuitive. I emphasize the practical relevance of the topics. By connecting the subject matter to real-life scenarios, I show students how immunology, microbiology, and cell biology are essential in understanding health, disease, and groundbreaking scientific discoveries. I encourage active participation and critical thinking. Interactive discussions and questions spark curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Students are not just passive learners; they become active contributors to the learning process. Open and constructive feedback is essential for growth. I provide regular feedback to students, highlighting their strengths and suggesting areas for improvement.
