About Lydia
My teaching approach for piano combines technical skill with creative expression. I focus on building strong fundamentals while introducing composition basics, so students can craft their own melodies and musical ideas. Music storytelling is central to my lessons, I guide learners to convey emotion and connect deeply with every piece they play.
Harmonic analysis is an important part of my method, helping students understand chord progressions, voicings, and song structure. I support learners who want to excel in precise, classical repertoire as well as those exploring improvisation and jazz styles. Each lesson balances technique, theory, and emotional expression, tailored to individual goals.
I encourage active listening, creativity, and experimentation, helping students develop both skill and musicality. They learn to interpret music thoughtfully, improvise with confidence, and bring their unique voice to each performance. I’m a piano tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education focused on voice. Rhythm is my heartbeat, I love lessons that make you move and feel the groove. Syncopation, swing, and creative rhythms are my favourite ways to bring music to life.
I teach students how to accompany singers confidently, adding flair and expression to every performance. We explore jazz voicings, chord colours, and harmonic textures that make your playing rich and exciting. I also guide learners in creating rhythmic variations that make songs bounce with energy.
My lessons are perfect for pop, funk, and gospel enthusiasts who want to play with soul and style. I blend technique with musical storytelling, helping you connect emotionally with every piece. Every session is dynamic, engaging, and tailored to your goals.
