About Jay
With 9 years of experience in teaching piano, I specialize in jazz harmony, improvisation, and composition. My lessons are carefully tailored to meet the needs of school students, focusing on enhancing their technical skills and fostering their creative expression. Whether you’re interested in mastering complex jazz chords, developing improvisational skills, or composing your own music, I provide personalized instruction to help you achieve your musical goals.
My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I use a blend of structured exercises, practical applications, and creative projects to keep lessons both effective and enjoyable. By focusing on each student’s unique interests and strengths, I aim to build their confidence and inspire a lifelong love for music.
Outside of teaching, I am passionate about exploring various genres and styles of music, as well as enjoying other creative pursuits. My hobbies include hiking, photography, and experimenting with different cuisines. These activities inspire my teaching and enrich my approach, ensuring that my lessons remain dynamic and engaging. In each lesson, I prioritize creating an engaging and supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring their musical interests. I incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on exercises, theoretical studies, and creative projects, to make learning both effective and enjoyable. My goal is to help students develop their unique musical voice and gain confidence in their playing.
Outside of teaching, I am passionate about various creative pursuits that complement my musical expertise. I enjoy hiking, photography, and trying out new cuisines, which inspire my approach to teaching and keep my lessons fresh and dynamic. These hobbies allow me to connect with students on a personal level and bring a unique perspective to each lesson, enriching the overall learning experience.
