About Nasheah
I’m Nasheah Tasneem from Varanasi, India, a BA Urdu student passionate about preserving my language. Urdu is the language of poetry, history, and culture, deeply tied to legends like Ghalib and Iqbal. It connects us to Mughal history, Sufi traditions, and classical music. Sadly, Urdu is fading as people shift to English, risking the loss of a vast cultural heritage. An Urdu poet once said: “Tongues have been cut with daggers of hate—who will now pour the sweetness of words into these ears? The children of our time love English so much, We fear—who will speak Urdu in the future” (translation) Learning Urdu also helps in understanding Hindi, Persian, and Arabic and opens career opportunities in literature, journalism, and translation.
