About Jolan

My goal in life is to have a positive, direct impact on today’s society, and the best way I’ve found to do this is through chemistry.

Chemistry is everywhere. With it, you can invent the materials of tomorrow—quantum computing, self-repairing paint, or even the cloak of invisibility. You can synthesize life-saving drugs that will help millions, including those around you. Want to tackle climate change? Chemistry. Want to stay healthy with a good diet? Chemistry. I could keep going, but you get the idea.

Understanding chemistry helps us better understand the world we live in, and that’s why I’m so passionate about it. Through teaching, I aim to share that passion and make learning chemistry benjoyable and accessible.

As an example of what’s possible with chemistry, I created a CO2 removal device (DAC) that won the Open Air CO2 Removal Challenge, which led to a presentation in one of the biggest CO2 removal conferences in the world (Carbon Unbound East Coast 2024).

Aside from chemistry, I have competed internationally in surfing and have experience teaching both surfing and skateboarding. I’m also fluent in English and French, with basic knowledge of Japanese and Spanish. I have travelled the world and am always striving to learn more!

About the lesson

With a Master’s in Physics and Chemistry, specializing in Organic Chemistry, and years of hands-on research experience, I offer expert tutoring in any chemistry-related subject for students ranging from high school to master’s degree level.

I adjust my teaching style to suit each student’s needs, learning pace and curriculum. I have 5 years of experience teaching physics and chemistry to high school students all over the world.

Lessons are 1 hour long and can be customized for anyone who wants to learn and understand chemistry—whether you’re studying for exams or just think that chemistry is rad!
