About Jake
I'm Jake, a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Sport Scientist with over 10 years of experience working in elite sport. Throughout my career, I've worked across professional football, Olympic and Paralympic programmes, supporting athletes to improve performance through evidence-based coaching and education.
Whether you're studying GCSE PE, A-Level PE, BTEC Sport or an undergraduate Sport & Exercise Science degree, I tailor every lesson to your individual needs, learning style and goals. My sessions are supportive, interactive and designed to build both confidence and understanding, helping you achieve your academic potential while developing knowledge that extends beyond the classroom.

My approach to tutoring is centred on helping students understand concepts rather than simply memorising them. I use a simple "What, Why, How" framework in every lesson:
What? – We establish the key concept or theory.
Why? – We explore why it is important and how it relates to sport and performance.
How? – We apply the knowledge through examples, exam-style questions and real-world scenarios, ensuring students can confidently use what they've learnt.
I create a highly interactive learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically and actively solve problems. My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, whether that's improving confidence, preparing for exams or developing a deeper understanding of sport science.
A typical lesson lasts 50 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for exam preparation or coursework support.
I hold a Master of Research (MRes) in Sport & Exercise Science and am an accredited member of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA). Alongside over 10 years' experience working in professional football and Olympic sport, I have extensive experience mentoring college and university students, guest lecturing at Loughborough College, and developing educational resources for organisations including Science for Sport and England Athletics.
My lessons are ideal for GCSE Physical Education, A-Level PE, BTEC Sport, undergraduate Sport & Exercise Science students, and anyone looking to improve their understanding of sport science or strength and conditioning through engaging, evidence-based teaching.
