About James
I love learning, having earned a Master's degree in German Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and another Master's degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I also love to pass on my love for learning to those I work with, gently pushing those I work with to try their hardest in the smartest way for them - because failing in the way you are "supposed" to do something can rob the joy of learning from anyone, young or old, but finding new ways to succeed can help inspire anyone to push themselves.

First, I take the time to sit down and understand what goals learners have, then look at what skills they need to develop to get there.
For children, I may find that they are speaking fine, and can draw their letters, but need help reading and writing, which shows they need help understanding how to connect letters to the sounds they make.
For international college students, you may, for example, have dual goals of wanting to make friends with other students and being able to write papers for their studies, which means practicing conversation and going over their writing together, while offering them helpful "homework" to improve their speaking confidence and their ability to translate their knowledge to a powerful piece of writing.
In both cases, I love to see you grow in ability and joy in being able to express yourself!
