About Eliza

I am currently a post-graduate student at King’s College London, completing a Masters in Modern Literature and Culture. I completed my undergraduate degree in English and related literature at the University of York. I have studied a wide range of texts during my undergraduate degree, and am confident in my ability to help students engage with and enjoy literature as much as I do. I have taught English to students aged 4-16 before while working at a tuition centre. These lessons focused on comprehension and analysis skills, particularly for secondary school students to ensure that they were prepared to take their exams. I have also taught private music lessons before via zoom.

About the lesson

Lessons would be led based on the student's current needs, whether that be assistance with topic comprehension, preparing for exams, or improving their essay writing skills. My lessons focus on what the student is currently struggling with, with aim to help alleviate these struggles by the end of each lesson. Lessons are an hour long, unless a different length is requested by the student. Each half term I set goals with students to work on areas of improvement, e.g. analytical skill, paragraph structure, phrasing, and I provide students and parents with a half-term report so that they can keep track of progress and areas that need more attention. I am happy to assist with topics such as: Text analysis e.g. Shakespeare plays Creative writing Essay writing skills Poetry analysis Reading comprehension Vocabulary building
