About Andy

I have been assigned, by my high school, to give maths tutoring for students who are not performing well in mathematics for one year in the first year of my Sixth Form when I was in Germany.
I have taught one student who has been struggling with Mathematics Higher Levels (in my year group) during this assignment. After taking my lessons for two weeks, he was able to improve class performance from a D- to a B+. The student has also improved his exam grade from around D or E to A- or B+(result taken from his first exam after taking my lessons). Then, with further help from me, in terms of problem-solving strategies and critical thinking, his grade has been stagnated at a level around A to A-.
Furthermore, I have also offered numerous, short-term helps/tutoring for other students in my year group who wished to achieve a better overall grade. One was able to see immediate effect by my tutoring that those students have all achieved at least 10% more than usual in their most recent exam.

About the lesson

I am currently studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Warwick. I aim to give maths lessons to students who are enrolled in the GCSE, A-Levels or IB diploma/certificate programme.
My lessons are based on my tutees. In other words, I will find out which exact part of the syllabus are my tutees struggling with and I will develop corresponding teaching plan based on the reason why they are not performing well. Not only will my tutees start to perform better, but they will also be able to gain an improved understanding and thus find mathematics more intriguing. Furthermore, I will introduce some other(possibly more efficient) methodologies for exam-style questions, which are different from conventional methods taught in school. Tutees will then be more versatile in an exam scenario and hence become more flexible in terms of time management.
