About Tess

My interest in Mathematics began with a fascination for patterns, logical structures, and analytical problem-solving. I pursued an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics to strengthen both my understanding of advanced concepts and my teaching methodology. Over 12 years, I have guided learners through elementary school math, middle school math, SAT math preparation, and introductory Calculus, helping them gain clarity, confidence, and independent analytical thinking. I teach with patience, adaptability, and careful observation, tailoring explanations to each learner’s style using visual models, practical examples, and stepwise reasoning. I foster a classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged, and mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities, building resilience and self-confidence. Outside the classroom, I engage in mathematics through problem-solving, curriculum development, and ongoing study. Teaching Math is deeply rewarding because I witness learners develop independence, logical reasoning, and confidence. Supporting students in achieving mastery and realizing their potential is the most fulfilling part of my work.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes accessible and rewarding when learners are guided to understand the reasoning behind each concept. My lessons cover elementary school math, middle school math, geometry, algebra, SAT math, and Calculus, emphasizing structured problem-solving, logical thinking, and conceptual clarity. I create a supportive and patient environment where learners feel comfortable exploring ideas, asking questions, and gradually building confidence in tackling complex mathematical problems.

Lesson content is tailored to the learner’s level. Elementary school math focuses on number sense, basic arithmetic, and interpreting word problems. Middle school math introduces geometry, proportional reasoning, and foundational algebra through visual examples and interactive exercises. Advanced learners work on algebraic manipulation, SAT math strategies, and introductory Calculus, with emphasis on logical reasoning, accuracy, and practical application. Carefully chosen exercises reinforce understanding and cultivate independent problem-solving skills.

Maths lessons also foster patience, analytical thinking, and persistence. As learners gain conceptual clarity, they approach unfamiliar challenges independently and confidently. Many students develop an appreciation for mathematics as structured, logical, and intellectually rewarding. My goal is to help learners feel confident, capable, and motivated in all areas of mathematics.
