About Matthew
I have been a maths tutor for the last 16 years having graduated form Nottingham Univeristy with a degree in Maths when I was 21. I have also taught maths in a school for the last 5 years.
I love communication and guiding young people, seeing the difference I can make in their outlook as well as their competence and confidence.
I am passionate about the importance of maths as a tool for everyone and how accessible it should be. I feel strongly that despite maths being something that can appear and be presented as a confusing landscape that it is in fact not, and just needs some perseverance and patience.

My main style is through questioning and guiding students to find the answers themselves, connecting the arguments with the theory they are assimilating so they learn how to take themselves through the steps needed for understanding, answering and developing their knowledge.
I also focus on building confidence and breaking down the barriers to engaging with maths.
I have had great success with students across all abilities, and 100% believe that maths is accessible to everyone, and there are no students that do not have a capacity to succeed in their maths studies.
