About Rory

My passion for mathematics began with an early appreciation for patterns and logical structures. I pursued an M.Sc in Mathematical Analysis to deepen my understanding and refine my teaching approach. Over 12 years, I have taught students across elementary school math, middle school math, SAT math preparation, and early calculus. I teach with patience, clarity, and flexibility. I adapt explanations to suit each student’s learning style and use visual models, practical examples, and structured reasoning to simplify abstract ideas. I encourage curiosity and help students see mistakes as learning opportunities. Outside teaching, I remain engaged with mathematics through independent study and curriculum development. Teaching math is fulfilling because I see students gain confidence and independence. Supporting learners as they recognize their own problem-solving ability is the most meaningful part of my work.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes far less intimidating when students understand the reasoning behind each concept. My lessons support learners across elementary school math and middle school math, focusing on number sense, reasoning skills, and clear problem-solving methods. I create a calm and supportive environment where students feel safe exploring ideas and developing confidence through structured guidance.

As students progress, lessons expand into geometry, algebra, SAT math, and introductory Calculus. I guide learners through step-by-step solutions, helping them connect new ideas to existing knowledge. Visual explanations, worked examples, and guided practice allow students to see patterns clearly and apply logic with accuracy. This approach reduces anxiety and builds steady confidence.

Maths lessons also strengthen patience, focus, and analytical thinking. Students learn that mistakes are part of growth and that reasoning matters more than speed. My goal is to help learners feel capable, confident, and prepared to handle mathematical challenges independently.
