About Riya

Hi. I'm Riya. I attained 9 9s and 2 8s at GCSE, achieving a 9 in maths and further maths GCSEs. I sat A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science. Having studied at an Independent school, I also have experience performing well in 11+ examinations. Currently, I am a maths student at the University of Bristol going into my second year. I have enjoyed studying maths at every stage and want to pass on my passion for maths to others. I believe a student's enjoyment of a subject is correlated with the teacher's enthusiasm and method of teaching. My love for maths and experience teaching it previously (to primary and secondary school students) means that my students will end up loving it.

About the lesson

We will begin by working through questions on a range of topics that you should be able to solve at your stage in education, providing me with information about your weakest topics. I will then teach you those topics one by one, and get you to attempt questions on those areas until you can solve questions with speed and accuracy. After you have a solid foundation in all topics, we will move onto more difficult questions to stretch you. That being said, I am flexible, so am able to tutor in any way that most helps the student.

I like to make sure my lessons are interactive, so I will ask you lots of questions and get you to work things out by yourself whilst still being supported, of course! This teaching style will allow you to develop your thinking skills and ensure you don't get bored. Lessons will be 60 minutes long to cover enough material and ensure they are productive. I am happy to vary the length of lessons based on the needs of the students I tutor.
