About Ritobrata

I am a patient and friendly tutor, eager to help all standards of students! I am currently studying mathematics at the University of Cambridge, in my second year. I have over 25+ hours tutoring experience and have taught students from a wide range of abilities - helping with a variety of courses from GCSEs to A-Levels to STEP (Cambridge entrance exam). In my spare time, I love playing the violin and sing in my college choir.

About the lesson

I will begin by asking students for specific areas they are unsure about. Once I have identified the areas for improvement, an honed on the student's specific needs, I will begin by covering the basic knowledge required for the topic. If necessary, I will spend a great deal of time on this as I believe once a student has grasped the basic concepts of a mathematical topic, I can start to set questions and problems of increasing difficulty from which they can learn the other skills. However, without a sound basis, this is not possible.

Once I have clarified the basics, I will explain complex techniques slowly and in an interactive manner - regularly asking questions to make sure the student is on board with what I am saying. To encourage learning, I will try and point out some interesting application of the topic they are learning and I will also try to simplify what the topic is really getting at, so that the student has an idea of what he/she is working towards.

To measure progress, I will regularly set specific past paper questions which I can mark and give productive feedback on.
