About Silas
My passion for mathematics began with an interest in how abstract ideas can explain real systems, from engineering structures to data-driven models. This curiosity led me to complete an M.Sc in Industrial Mathematics, where I explored the beauty of applied theory and analytical problem-solving. With 9 years of teaching experience, I have supported students from many backgrounds in building strong mathematical understanding through clear explanation and patient guidance.
I believe the best teaching happens when learners feel safe to explore. My approach emphasises conceptual strength, not rote repetition, and I adapt lessons to each student’s pace and learning style. Whether we are working through algebraic structures, calculus intuition, or geometric reasoning, I focus on helping students build long-term confidence and independence. I enjoy guiding learners who want both academic improvement and deeper appreciation of mathematical thinking.
Outside of tutoring, I stay engaged with mathematics through continuous learning, modelling projects, and exploring interdisciplinary connections. Teaching is meaningful to me because I get to watch students transform uncertainty into clarity. Helping learners grow into confident problem-solvers is one of the most rewarding parts of my work, and I aim to make every student feel capable of excelling through understanding.

Mathematics becomes enjoyable when it is taught as a living language of patterns, ideas, and discovery rather than a set of rigid rules. In my lessons, students explore algebra, geometry, calculus, and probability through engaging explanations that make concepts feel meaningful and connected. I focus on building strong foundations step by step, so learners do not simply memorise procedures but truly understand why each method works. Sessions are welcoming, calm, and interactive, allowing students to ask questions freely and grow without fear of mistakes.
Each lesson is structured around clarity and exploration. Beginners develop comfort with core skills like equations, fractions, and number reasoning through guided practice and supportive pacing. Intermediate learners strengthen problem-solving by working through multi-step challenges, visual diagrams, and applied examples. Advanced students sharpen their reasoning through deeper conceptual discussions, exam strategies, and higher-level topics that prepare them for competitive and academic success. Every class includes practice, reflection, and feedback to ensure steady progress.
Mathematics also builds confidence beyond the classroom. As students learn to approach problems with patience and logic, they begin to trust their own thinking. Many learners discover that math is not about being “fast,” but about being consistent and curious. My goal is to help students feel empowered, capable, and excited to improve through understanding and meaningful growth.
