About Jake

My love for mathematics began with fascination for how abstract symbols can describe patterns in nature, technology, and design. I earned a B.A in Applied Mathematics and later an M.Sc in Computational Mathematics, where I explored both theoretical reasoning and modern problem-solving applications. Over 7 years of teaching, I have supported students in building strong foundations and achieving academic success.

I believe maths teaching should be clear, supportive, and deeply logical. My approach emphasises understanding the “why” behind methods, not just repeating procedures. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, helping them feel encouraged and capable.

Beyond teaching, I stay connected to mathematics through modelling work, continued study, and interdisciplinary exploration. Teaching is meaningful because I see students transform into confident thinkers who can approach challenges with clarity and independence.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes much easier when students see it as a connected system of ideas rather than isolated formulae. My lessons focus on building strong conceptual understanding in algebra, calculus, geometry, and probability through patient explanation and guided discovery. I help learners develop clarity by breaking topics into logical steps that feel manageable and motivating.

Sessions are structured to strengthen both understanding and problem-solving skill. Beginners work on core algebra, number sense, and equation foundations. Intermediate students develop stronger graph interpretation, function reasoning, and multi-step problem strategies. Advanced learners refine calculus techniques, proofs, and exam-level reasoning with deeper analytical focus and precision.

Maths lessons also train the mind in discipline and confidence. Students gradually become more independent, learning how to approach unfamiliar problems with calm logic. My goal is to help every learner build lasting mathematical strength, steady progress, and trust in their ability to excel.
