About Theodore

I am an enthusiastic student and teacher, currently studying Computer Science at the University of St Andrews. In January I will begin working at Accenture as a Software Engineer.
I graduated from school with 4 A*s at A Level, and took a year out to teach abroad during which I also taught myself and took Further Maths A Level. At GCSE I achieved 12 A*s.

I have lots of tutoring experience; in the past I have done routine online tutoring with many different clients. I am well placed in understanding and teaching GCSE and A Level given that I taught myself Further Maths in both qualifications, and currently study the subject at University. I am well placed to teach computer science given as I study it at university and start work as an engineer in January.

Personally, I also enjoy outdoor activities. I am Race Director for my Uni Triathlon Club, in which I am also a qualified coach. I further enjoy big hikes, choir music, and a radio comedian called John Finnemore.

About the lesson

I believe Maths is not about knowledge but about understanding, and that anyone can improve if they are taught what Maths really means instead of blindly memorising methods. I incorporate this philosophy into my teaching to develop an effective problem solving mindset in enthusiastic students.

Computer Science teaching is less exam-focussed and more holistic. I will set the tutee coding assignments and discuss the engineering thought process. We will discuss their work while reinforcing understanding and introducing new ideas.
