About Reshon

Hi, I’m Reshon, a second-year BCom Actuarial Science student at Stellenbosch University. I’ve always enjoyed maths (from solving problems to understanding how everything connects). That curiosity is what drives me to tutor others. I know how challenging maths can feel, especially in high school and I want to help make it feel more manageable. I’ve helped classmates and peers improve their marks and rebuild their confidence by explaining things in ways that actually click. I’m committed, reliable and genuinely want to see my students succeed - not just academically, but in how they think about learning.

About the lesson

My approach to private maths tutoring is all about building real understanding and confidence - no memorising without meaning. I focus on helping students truly grasp the “why” behind the methods so that they can approach any problem logically, not just follow steps. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students don’t feel afraid to ask questions or make mistakes - that’s where the real learning happens.

What makes me unique as a tutor is that I explain things in a way that actually makes sense to students. I break topics down into simple terms, connect new concepts to things they already understand, and adjust my teaching style depending on how each student thinks. I know what it’s like to face strict marking and tough theory, especially at high school level, so I give tips that help students not just understand the work but also score well in tests and exams.

I teach in English and can adapt my communication for students who aren’t fully comfortable with the language yet. In a typical lesson, students can expect a quick check-in on what they’re struggling with, a step-by-step breakdown of the topic, guided practice with questions, and strategies to avoid common errors.

My lessons are aimed at students in Grades 8 to 12—whether they’re battling with the basics, trying to improve marks, or pushing for distinctions. I work especially well with students who want someone patient, relatable, and clear, and who need someone to make maths feel a little less overwhelming.
