About Jenny
I am a native Afrikaans speaking South African offering Afrikaans lessons to students of all ages and levels of competency (youngsters/teenagers/adults; beginner/elementary/intermediate levels, etc.)
I have often found that Afrikaans is not an easy language to learn for many English-, Xhosa-, Zulu-, etc. speaking South Africans whose professions in South Africa and/or daily lives often require them to be proficient and/or fluent in Afrikaans.
Having learned Afrikaans from birth, combined with a passion for teaching and an aptitude for languages in general, I thoroughly enjoy teaching my native language to willing and eager learners, whatever their specific reason(s) for wanting to improve their Afrikaans.

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience, I aim at cultivating a love for the Afrikaans language in general and identify student(s) specific areas of need. I try to give students a reason to read Afrikaans more often and make use of tried and tested teaching methods that produce tangible results.
I also believe that it very important to connect with students individually (and as a group if more than one student is involved) and in making classes lively, interactive and relevant. Topical (graded) debates and discussions often form part of my Afrikaans lessons.
Where necessary (e.g., pertaining to certain more complex Afrikaans grammar rules, sentence structuring and comprehension tests) we slow down the lesson pace if and where necessary to ensure that every student engages, understands and becomes familiar and comfortable with these new (Afrikaans) language concepts before moving on.
