About John Robert

As perviously mentioned, I am currently a student doctor and ex combat medic. With this background I can ensure a completely professional, goal oriented teaching style.

But with that being said the best teachers I found were approachable, friendly and able to have an open conversation. The more at ease someone is in the classroom the more learning takes place, and so that’s how I aim to be!

In terms of my knowledge base, and what I can tutor, during my military career I undertook the majority of my qualifications. Meaning as an adult I studied from the ground up, I did all my GCSE’s and A levels as a mature part-time student and did well enough to of been accepted into medical school. This has given me a solid recent foundation that helps me immensely at medical school and I hope will help my students also.

About the lesson

My lessons are aimed for pupils attending secondary and college education

Having taught around the world with all levels of ability I find a simplistic, relaxed approach to teaching to be most effective. Academic study often starts with over-complication of theories full of subject matter jargon and too in-depth analysis of forms and functions.

My tutoring will look at the pupils understanding of fundamental principles, with this we can ensure a solid foundation of subject understanding, which will lead to a real grasp of more specified subject knowledge later on.

I also like to approach each teaching session with the most important academic tool, engagement. I do not believe students learn effectively just by being talked at; each session will be conducted in a conversational manner requiring active participation and listening throughout.

My approach to teaching has been polished throughout my army career, as a non commissioned officer of 11 years in the royal army medical corps I trained many who did not reach their potential in school. Many of my former juniors have now gone on to become distinguished in their feild. With this experience I’ve learnt there’s no one fit all time frame to learn, so teaching sessions will be tailored completely towards the students comfort, maximising their understanding.
