About the lesson

Although my NJ certification is for elementary education (K-6) and middle school science, I am available and willing to continue to “fill the gaps” that sometimes emerge and have enjoyed the experience of developing and implementing curriculum in many areas. For example, to successfully teach Computers, I designed a set of essential skills K-8 Technology education units aligned to 21st Century Technology learning guidelines which I continued to adapt to the needs of other teachers via project and content support in the media center throughout my tenure at my former school. You will find that in my classes, I actively pursue an interdisciplinary/cooperative approach to each of my content areas and enjoy encouraging student engagement in the classroom via the use of specific expectations and procedures and informal formative assessments. In my classrooms, I was privileged to have had access to an interactive whiteboard for student exercises and games, and in the computer lab we benefited from educational computer use, but I was also careful to employ a variety of instructional techniques, such as, collaborative assignments, individual projects, and my favorite – use of hands-on activities (and manipulatives), in my approach to any subject matter.
