About Edward
Hi, I’m Edward, a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from Loughborough University, one of the UK’s leading universities. Throughout my degree, maths has been at the core of my studies, developing my analytical and problem-solving skills and giving me a strong understanding of how to approach complex topics in a clear and logical way.
Having benefited from tutoring myself, I understand the difference that the right support can make to a student’s confidence and academic performance. This experience has shaped my approach to teaching, helping me create lessons that are both supportive and effective.

I believe that success in maths comes from understanding concepts rather than simply memorising methods. My lessons focus on building strong foundations, breaking topics down into manageable steps, and helping students develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
When introducing a new topic, I begin by explaining the key concepts clearly before working through guided examples that demonstrate both the method and the reasoning behind it. As understanding develops, students are encouraged to take a more active role in solving increasingly challenging questions, before completing independent practice to reinforce their learning. We then review answers together, addressing any misconceptions and ensuring learning objectives have been met.
Where appropriate, I also set additional practice between lessons to consolidate understanding and support continued progress.
My aim is to help GCSE and A-level students improve their mathematical ability, achieve their academic goals, and develop the confidence to approach maths with a positive mindset.
