About Zayd
I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Ottawa, where math isn't just something I studied once, it's what I work with every day in my coursework.
I've been tutoring for over a year now. Alongside my own students, I tutor at Better Learning in Ottawa and work as a STEM instructor with Young Engineers, teaching hands-on engineering activities to younger learners. Before university, I founded and led the STEM club at my high school, which grew to over 100 members and included a peer-tutoring program I built and ran myself.
That range matters. Teaching a Grade 7 student fractions and helping a Grade 12 student through calculus require completely different approaches, and I've spent enough time with both to know the difference.
I take this seriously. I show up on time, I plan around what the student is actually being tested on, and I follow the Ontario curriculum rather than teaching math in the abstract. Parents can expect straightforward communication about how sessions are going — including when something isn't working.

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Ottawa and I tutor math for Grades 7 to 12, following the Ontario curriculum.
Most students who struggle in math aren't bad at it, they're missing one piece from an earlier grade that makes everything after it feel impossible. My job is finding that gap and filling it, not just drilling the topic they're currently failing.
A session runs about an hour. We start with what they're working on in class, I watch them attempt a problem to see where they get stuck, then break it down step by step and hand it back to them. I teach in English, French, and Arabic.
